Martin County Cancer Patient Services Meeting - December 3, 2024
The Martin County Cancer Patient Services met at St. Mary's Hall in Shoals, Indiana 5:30 PM. Rheadawn Street opened with a prayer and welcomed the guests.
In attendance were Rheadawn Street, Linda Knight, Rex Knight, Karen Jones, Robin Hart, Shannon Wagoner, Rene Phillips, and Jim force.
The Secretary report was completed by Karen Jones and sent via email by Shannon Wagoner. It was reviewed by all members. Robin Hart made the motion to accept and Rheadawn Street seconded the motion. The motion carried 5-0. Linda Knight presented the treasure report. Shannon Wagoner made the motion to approve and Robin Hart seconded the motion. It was approved 5-0.
Grant Update and donations:
Martin County Community Foundation $5,000 gift grant for patient care is to be used in 1 year. The Thanksgiving baskets will not be covered by this grant.
Patient Update and Community Outreach:
Total Patients - 35
New Patients - 2
Death - Bruce Bateman and Mary Jo Mullins. Our sympathy goes out to family and friends.
Birthday Blessings:
A special thank you to Robin Hart for delivery birthday bags to Joe Hart, Kaye Hellums and Steve Deckard.
Youth Ambassador:
John Andis grandchildren will be added to the list of youth.
Volunteers:
Hindostan Church Ladies will be donating decorated Christmas trees to Rick Arvin and Don Bowling. Thank you to Rheadawn Street for delivering!
Fundraising:
The Hoosier Night total raised was $6,788.41. Thank you to Doug and Becky for their hard work in hosting this event. Also, to the many involved in speaking, set up, working the auction, etc. It would not have been possible without the generosity of volunteers.
Loogootee Library Christmas Tree Event raised $65.00. Thank you to Karen Jones and those who assisted her!
Upcoming Events:
Gift bags for the Holidays - December 20 at 2 PM bags will be filled. Delivery will be that afternoon. Thank you to Jim Force for letting the volunteers fill bags at his home!
Christmas Stroll - Loogootee Methodist Church 12-6 PM on December 7, 2024. Set up at 8 AM. Raffle Instant Pot. Volunteers needed to work the booth.
Cancer Awareness Game Scheduled - Shoals High School January 25, 2025. Loogootee High School - Undetermined.
Tea Party - 2025 event.
Linda Bennet donated a quilt to be raffled for an event in 2025.

Old Business:
The Thanksgiving Baskets were successful and had good reviews. Thank you to all those involved in making this possible!
New Business:
A suggestion was made that a lighted Japanese Lantern Memorial be held in the upcoming year to honor our patients. Discussion was held with no decision made at this time.
A very special thank you to the Martin County Commissioners for offering the Recycling Center Office space to use for storage.
Robin Hart made a motion to adjourn and Linda Knight seconded it. Meeting was adjourned at 6:25 PM. The next meeting will be held at Loogootee Library, Loogootee, Indiana on January 7, 2025 at 5:30 PM.
