\Martin County Cancer Patient Services Meeting
December 5, 2023
The Martin County Cancer Patient Services met at the St Mary’s Hall in Shoals, Indiana at 5:30 PM.  Rheadawn Street opened with a prayer and welcomed the guests.  In attendance were Rheadawn Street, Sandy Bratton, Linda Knight, Shannon Wagoner, Rex Knight, Kenley Shaw, Robin Hart, Karen Slaven, Tammy Salmon, Rene Phillips, and Jim Force.


The minutes from the November meeting were reviewed by the board via email. Rheadawn Street made the motion to accept and Linda Knight seconded the motion. The motion carried 4-0. Linda Knight presented the treasure report. Shannon Wagoner made the motion to approve and Sandy Bratton seconded the motion. It was approved 4-0.


Grant Update and Donations:  Rex Knight announced the $2000 grant was received for the Youth Ambassador Program.  Presentation and pictures will be on December 18 at MCCF Building at 3:30PM.  Mr. Knight stated the tax issue with Amazon has been resolved and orders can be completed now. They previous grant will be closed out since the orders can be completed for the Youth Ambassador Program to begin.   He suggested continuing with the name of “Hugs for you too” so that the Grant alliances will be aware of our programs such as transportation costs, etc. Loogootee Jr/Sr High School Beta Club donated $2,000 and members will meet at the school for pictures.  Date and time will be sent in a group text.

Birthday Blessings:

Tammy Salmon delivered birthday blessings bags. Tammy stated the patients were so appreciative of the birthday bags.


Volunteers: Thank you to all involved in preparing for the Christmas Jubilee and making of the bows that were donated.


Fundraising:

Tammy Salmon proposed a Christmas Countdown to be introduced on our Facebook page for daily donations. 

T-Shirts Sold this past month; 2 lavender and 3 gray

Tammy Salmon proposed more information regarding the silent Auction to be held in the spring; perhaps online or at the Spring Tea.   She has 230 plus businesses on a spread sheet to be contacted for donations.

Upcoming Events:
Kenley Shaw has completed all Christmas cards and they will be given with the Christmas Baskets.

All members interested should meet at Jim Force’s home for the Christmas Basket assembling. It will be from 2-5 PM in Jim’s basement. He announced that the citrus has arrived and he has purchased the apples. Shannon Wagoner will make cookies and Jim will have the coffee ready. 

The Potential Date of March 30 was set for the Auction/Tea Party. Members will call about utilizing United Methodist Church or the St John’s Hall for the event. 

Discussion was held regarding adding a new member to the MCCPS Board.  There will be more information at the next meeting.

Sandy Bratton made a motion to adjourn and Rheadawn Street seconded it.  Meeting was adjourned at 6:45 PM.  The next meeting will be held at the Loogootee Library, Loogootee, Indiana on January 2, 2024 at 5:30 PM.
